Public Record Request
Requests are not required to be in writing, nor is the requestor required to provide their name or an explanation as to why the request is being made.
The Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County (ELC) is committed to providing access to information that holds the government accountable. To provide complete and timely compliance with Florida’s public records laws, please consider the following information to help us provide you with the best response to your public records request:
Fees for Public Records
In accordance with Section 119.07 (4), the ELC may impose the following fees:
One Sided Copies(up to 14″ × 8½”) : Up to $0.15 per page
Double Sided Copies: Up to $0.20 per page
All other copies (oversized, specialty): Actual cost of duplication
Certified Copies: Up to $1.00 per copy
Electronic records (CD, USB, email): Actual cost of duplication
Extensive IT or supervisory use: Special service charge (reasonable, based on actual cost)
*Under § 119.07(4)(d), Florida Statutes, if your request takes a significant amount of staff time or specialized technology to fulfill, we may add a reasonable service fee on top of copy costs.
The following are examples of records that are confidential and exempt from disclosure under Florida law, and are not subject to release:
Active police investigation files — § 119.071(2)(c)
Home addresses and personal details of certain public employees — § 119.071(4)(d)
Legal records prepared for active court cases — § 119.071(1)(d)
Names and identifying information of crime victims — § 119.071(2)(h)
Social security numbers — § 119.071(5)(a)
