Your voice matters. Providers like you help shape the decisions that support children, families, and educators across Sarasota County.
The ELC Sarasota Board of Directors is a working volunteer board that provides governance and oversight of the Coalition. One designated provider seat is open for election, private for-profit child care providers (including family child care home providers).
As a Board member, you will serve a four-year term, attend approximately five (5) regular meetings per year, opportunity to serve on at least one Board committee, and help promote the ELC Sarasota mission throughout the community. A full orientation is provided at the start of your term.
Providers interested in serving on the ELC Sarasota Board of Directors in the capacity of a representative of a private for profit child care provider (including family child care home providers) must currently be a Voluntary Prekindergarten Program provider or School Readiness provider in good standing with the Coalition.
Persons may nominate themselves or be nominated by someone else. However, all nominations must be made on a nomination e-form and be submitted via the ELC Sarasota website. In order to be included in the final slate of candidates, the nominee must accept the nomination.
All nomination forms must be received electronically by May 10, 2026.
Nomination Period: May 4 – May 10
The new representative will be elected from the slate of candidates developed from those nominated. Voting will be handled electronically only and will begin on May 14, 2026.
Election will be by plurality vote not by majority vote. The election results will be ratified by the Board and announced by the Chair at the ELC Sarasota Board of Director’s regular scheduled meeting on June 9, 2026. The meeting is open to anyone who wishes to attend. The election results are not considered official until ratified by the Board.
